Has anyone out there successfully used the FC5025 USB floppy controller to read Apple 13 sector disks? I've used it to read hundreds of 16 sector disks, but every 13 sector disk I've tried has failed and I'm trying to figure out if it is a drive problem or if all my 13 sector disks are toast.
I have dozens of 13 sector disks, so I'm leaning toward a drive issue, but I'm not sure why 13 sector disks would fail when 16 sectors work fine.
(I know, I could swap out the drive to test, but I don't have a spare PC drive right now.)
Anyway, if you've tried reading 13 sector disks with the FC5025, please share your results.
You may have to run a program that will let you run 13 sector disks. Not sure about doing it with the setup you have. Something like a boot 13 first before you put a 13 sector disk in the drive.
I think the reader program has some issues with 13 sector disks. I get lots of read errors when reading known-good 13-sector disks. And another problem... what format will they be stored in? .DSK isn't quite the right thing. So, give Adam a jingle and mention this as a trouble spot.
Thanks for the confirmation, David. I'm going to send him some 13 sector disks to try out.
