Macintosh LC and Apple iie card

Hey guys.

Is there a way to test all of these items?

When I start the system, it says, "Welcome to Macintosh". but the drawing of the picture of the computer does not always come out in color.

When I was running System 6.0.8, it completely lost color in the monitors section in the control panel about half of the time but when that happened I could easily set it back to 256 colors. Now I am running a newer OS and it sometimes goes to 16 colors but never complete black and white like it did with system 6.0.8.

When I play Destiny on the iie and kill an enemy the sound it makes afterward is weird.

If I boot the Apple iie diagnostics disk, it says that some of the cards and roms are bad.

I don't know if this is due to the fact that the Apple iie card is actually an emulated iie and that these types of anomalies are normal or they are indications of problems with the card.

What do you think guys?

It sounds like there is an Issue with your Mac, and maybe the Apple ][e card..

All the weird behaviors are not very encouraging..

I believe the Diagnostics are for the Actual Apple ][e's, not the one for the Mac LC, so I wouldn't trust it, UNLESS it says it is for use on the Apple ][e Card for the LC..

I have an LC, but I don't believe it has an Apple ][e card...

What model of Mac LC do you have? I had an LC III, but it went wrong and I swapped the motherboard for an LC 1 board which fits the same machine. I have two Apple IIe cards. One of them works properly, the other does not. The IIe card only works properly with an LC 1. The IIe card fits several Macintosh models, which makes you think you can use it in these machines, but you can't.

Re: Macintosh LC and Apple iie card

Well, I got my hands on a Macintosh Performa 575. It has 36MB of RAM. This is one of the fastest models of all the Macintosh models that I could find which is compatible with the Apple iie card.

The only behavior that has changed is the color problem. This computer has no color issues.

It seems that if I really have a problem at all, it is probably the Apple iie card that I have. Although I must admit that it's not as if the computer refuses to run any software title that I throw at it.

The only thing I can possibly do now is get another Apple iie card and try that one. If the behavior of another Apple iie card is the same then it is easy to conclude that I really have no problem.

The only other way to see if I have a real problem is to have another person with an Apple iie card in a Macintosh run the same tests that I am doing to see if the behavior can be replicated.

I have an opened IIe card but do not currently have a compatible Mac. May have one in relatively short order but not certain. If I do get one in a reasonable time frame I will get in touch and you let me know what tests you would like me to run.

Sorry cant be of more help but picked the card up before I discovered the machine I had to put it in died!
