Hello, I'm new to this forum. I have viewed a bunch of discussions regarding Apple II versus Apple II Plus. I was just wondering if you could look at my computer and give me some more information regarding if its a late model Apple II or an Apple II Plus. I know that some Apple II's were made after the introduction of the Apple Plus. If I decide to sell it in the future, the last thing I would want to do is mislead anyone.

The First Picture indicates this is an Apple ][+.. The A2S2 was the Start of the Apple ][+ Serial Number. Apple ]['s started with A2S1, like mine.

In the Second Picture, the lid is from an Apple ][.

In the Third Picture, the Motherboard has no RAM Blocks, found on the first Four revisions, I would make a guess that it is a Rev 7 Motherboard. Just above the Ribbon Cable that connects the Language Card to the Motherboard there is a Solder Mask that reads, "0001-07". The Rev-01 and Rev-03 don't have this Information. Also ALL the ROM Sockets are Filled, that Usually Indicates an Apple ][+, because AppleSoft BASIC is Larger than Integer BASIC.

The Fourth Picture shows the whole number, "820-0001-07".

The Fifth Picture indicates, 8045 ( or 8015 ), which would indicate this system was assembled in 1980, in the 45th ( or 15th ) Week of the Year.

The Sixth Picture I don't know of any Relevant Information from the Writing. Possible Burn-In Testing marks.

The Seventh Picture with a Motherboard Silk Screen of "Copyright 1979", and the 6502 Manufacture Date of 8033, ( 1980, 33rd Week ) would Indicate an Assembly Date of 8045, or the 45th Week of 1980, or about the First Week of November. Also, lots of Corrosion on the ROMS. They need to be Pulled out Very Carefully and Cleaned, Very Carefully.

The Eighth Picture looks like the back of an Aple ][ or Apple ][+, but the Switch on the Power Supply is one of the types that are known to fail. My Apple ][ has the same type. DON'T use this Switch or it WILL Break Quickly.
(Turn On Computer and Plug and Unplug Cord or get a System Fan and use its Switch. )

The Ninth Picture, of the Power Supply, this is a quite low Serial Number, but I don't know when the 605-5701 Series was released. Because of the Power Switch, it might be older than the rest of the Apple ][+.

My Best Guess... You have an Apple ][+, with an Apple ][ Lid, and possibly an Apple ][ Power Supply.

Here are some pictures of my Apple ][ with a Rev-03 Motherboard, and my Apple ][+ with a Rev-01 Motherboard. The Rev-03 MB in the Apple ][ seems original, but the Apple ][+'s weren't made until the Rev-04 Motherboards were available. It has been swapped at some point.

So, if you had the last Apple II made during the time of the Apple Plus, it would still have A2S1 serial number?

Yes, the Label looks just like yours, but was White with Red Letters and has a Serial Number in the Format of:
A2S1-xxxxxxx.

I can't locate a picture of the Later, UL Listed Apple ][ Serial Numbers, but found one of the Early Apple ][+ Ones, and the Much Later Apple ][+ Serial Number Stickers that look like the early Apple ][e's

MarkO is right about the missing 16k Blocks.
The thing I noticed is that the Keyboard is a II+ model.
These were also used on very late II units.

If it has a II+ Serial Number, it must be a II+.

To MarkO and and Steven thank you for your responses. I really appreciate your help. I feel more confident in identifying the differences between an Apple II and an Apple II+ now. Hopefully, I can find an original Apple II now.

It actually looks like a "Frankenstein" machine. The mismatched cover and power supply are from and Apple II. Based on the serial number on the supply, my guess is a rev 1 Apple II.

When you do find an original II, before you sell your plus, find yourself a correct II plus cover and Aztek supply. They are very common and swap them in. Your cover and supply are worth a few hundred dollars and would be good to complete a II that is missing things. Might as well benefit yourself and another. Or it might make your search easier as you can be less picky if you want a rev-1 since you have the correct supply already.

Cheers,
Corey
