What do you think about Painting an IceBook G3 to look like an iBook Clamshell? You know, taping some parts off and using paint to replicate the look of the rubber that wraps around the clamshell? And maybe painting around the trackpad to look like the clamshells inner casing? Any ideas/suggestoins would be helpful, especially pics of any iBooks that have had this done to them (or similar) before. Thanks!

If you use one of the earlier dual-USB iBooks that use transparent plastics, you can follow one of the many iBook paint mods and accomplish what you're looking to do pretty easily.

Thanks for the tip! I did own one of the original Dual USB 'books, 600mhz I believe, I also owned an 800mhz, 700mhz, and a 900mhz G3. I never though you could remove the clear plastic casing of the earlier ones, I will have to look into that. My main concern would probably be making a good stencil for the whole deal. I was thinking of doing and Indigo paint job. Do you think a Glossy or Matte paint would do better for the look of a Clamshell? If I can find a photo filter to match the paint, I will do the Apple color symbol on the top of the screen mod, I have done that twice before, that way it would look more authentic. Is it possible to remove the trackpad button for painting? If so, I will just tape up the rest of the trackpad and do a brush paint job for the blue plastic that surrounds the trackpads on the original iBook Clamshells

You could use real rubber - PlastiDip is a paint-on (or dip, duh) rubber-like insulator. You may have to carefully cut away at the edge of your stencil though, rather than simply peeling it off.
