Agree. In today's world of 99-cent and free apps, this is worth about $10-$20 to me. And that's being gracious "because old computer", "because apple".

That is Disk #1 on eBay.

There's a story about the game on A2Central.com.

It pays to read before commenting.
This is an auction for the #1 copy of the game.
It includes extras.

Copies after that will not be as expensive.
Goto a2central.com for the posting which
includes the facebook page history, creation
of the game.

Re: Still Kickin'

Is the game somehow famous enough to warrant a high price for the first copy?

It seems it's at least important enough that there have been 14 bids so far. I can see how getting the first copy could score you extra brownie points if you're a collector.

Re: Still Kickin'

I think it's more an homage to the creator. A number of us have been beta testing and providing other means of support and help/info since the first lines of code were written.
The first 5 copies were going to go to auction (the programmer may change that but that was his original plan) to recoup some costs (printing, disks, etc) and then the rest of the copies (150 total to start) will be sold directly. Last I checked he had not set a price for direct purchase copies.

In addition to the facebook beta testers group a lot of discussion (including the initial work prior to the creation of the beta testers group) took place on the Apple II Enthusiasts facebook group.

While I cannot speak for anyone other than myself, based on conversations I know that many of us felt the effort and community involvement was worth more than anything, and throwing some money at the person who put so much time and effort into this project was money well spent. Especially when you think about some of the things we have all spent money on (and how much money) in the name of our hobby! Biggrin

As to the auction for copy #1, who can say what something is worth to someone else other than "Whatever they are willing to pay."
