This warrants it own eBay thread

Seriously....

https://www.ebay.com/ulk/itm/191831454101

This is Resman's ASCII demo on cassette tape. The program is only 10 years old and this guy is claiming the item is "up to 35 years old" more like 35 minutes. Now I have seen everything for $150. Oh I forgot he is also including a Xerox copy/printout of the Apple-1 owners manual.

I have defended this guy in the past on other sites as not so bad because when I have needed stuff for my Sol he did accept 1/2 the price he was offering on eBay as an offer and I was desperate to get a board. But seriously this borders on fraud not simply an overpriced posting on eBay.

Hello Corey,
i do understand that you are angry....
but within the item descrition itself he does not claim that.

The text you mention is in the bottomline as general text to explain,
that he regrets any kind of guarantee to the function of any items sold by him.
But i agree it´s very close to the border where fraud begins....

My doubts would instead be rather more related to the tape itself:
I don´t believe that a program written only a decade or so ago would have been
distributed by Apple themselves with original Apple label.....

In such case it really would be fraud to sell fake as original.....
and it would violate copyright of the company to fake a such label....

just my 5 cents
sincerely

Corey and Speedy,

The problem is the fact that you cannot call them on it.
vintagecomputermuseum does not respond to questions or comments.

This is not the first time folks (including myself) have caught them
doing things like this.

I have tried on several occasions to ask questions about an item
and it immediately goes to an eBay "Runaround" cycle.

That is one of the main reasons I will not do business with them.

Just my 2 cents.

Re: This warrants it own eBay thread

Hello Steven,
sorry i cross checked the both threads and.... this offer wasn´t topic at
the "this is laughable" thread in the past 3 weeks.....

and the bad behaviour not to reply to questions....
well it´s same like the fact that he uses the same tactic of "reply add" to
spell each time at each item the same refusal of any kind of guarantee to
all items sold by him - without any item specific change....
but also that was not the topic here at the moment....

the question is rather more:
is the tape a fake or not ?
or is it at least probably very narrow to betrayal ( in legal meaning )
what would also be a violation of the ebay rules ( violation of legal copyrights )....

to focus the difference to "this is laughable":
This is not about exorbitant price policy
this is about crime or not crime......

sincerly

Which is right.
There is a difference.
