Converting TiBook to (something?)

Hi everyone - I've been looking over the photos and postings here, and I'm amazed at some of the things people are doing. Really cool stuff. Here is my situation:

I'm buying a new laptop from Apple very soon to replace my very beaten and very battered TiBook DVI. The bottom casing is cracked, top left hunge broken off, the lid doesn't stay open or closed - it is in rough shape. So rough that I wouldn't consider selling it, but would feel guilty if it didn't get put to good use! I'd love to be able to take advantage of this Front Row technology and remote control technology and perhaps create a "picture frame" type box that I can mount to my wall. The picture frame box would be controllable to be able to display photos or videos, or control my iTunes AirTunes stereo.

Here is my problem: I've never ever modded before - and don't have any tools.

Solution?: I'd be willing to pay someone to help me, or do it for me! I'm very very very open to ideas conceptually, or if you think this is a stupid/crazy idea - please let me know! What else could I do with this beaten up machine?

Please feel free to e-mail me with any ideas or questions, or if you are interested in taking on this 'project.' Please don't hesitate to contact me - I'm very interested in this mod, and would love as much feedback or input as possible. My e-mail address is JTropeano@mac.com

Tibook picture frame

it should not be too hard to make a Tibook into a picture frame. I would be willing to help you on this one as I'm pretty technically inclined. I have seen similar ideas in Macworld magazine and again here on Applefritter. I'll need to look at some takeapart guides on the net and come up with a design for you / with you.

exc idea

See my page. A TiBook can be folded back on itself to make a terrific all-in-one CPU/display package. I played with making a desktop unit out of one, but it would just as easily mount on a wall.
