Apple Sued Over Hearing Loss...
Does anyone know if Sony was ever sued over anything like this back in the heyday of the Walkman?

Some people...

defective?

If Apple asserts that the device was designed to produce volumes in excess of 100dB, then the claims of it being defective (by producing such levels) are bogus.

Since Apple does advise that high vloumes for excessive periods is damagin to the ear, it sounds like a serious case of RTMFM.

that's like suing a computer

that's like suing a computer monitor company becuase their crt gave you a detached retna and saying it's the company's fault that this happened even though your the person who decided to stare at it 23/7. or like suing a keyboard company becuase you developed carple tunnel. and maybe like the guy who won a lawsuit in america against mcdonalds because he spilt coffe on himself. he sued because "it was too hot"

Actually ... I used to work in coffee shops (y'know, triple skinny grande decaf macchiato) and this particular lawsuit caused more grief from customers who didn't want lids ...

The "McDonald's Lady" was a woman in her 70s who ordered a coffee at the drive through lane. She didn't want a lid.

The drive through attendant insisted she had to put a lid on the coffee. The Lady got mad and said she didn't want a ***king lid. The attendant reluctantly gave her the coffee without a lid.

The Lady then put her coffee between her thighs ... and drove off in her clutch car ...

... And the jury gave her 3 million dollars.

Only in America!

Close. She was riding shotgun

Close. She was riding shotgun in her grandson's mustang 5.0, and he FLOORED it pulling out of the drive thru. You know, shaving a few thousandths form the back tires in the process.

A more recent one is the guy that's suing Toro Lawnmower for not putting a warning on thier lawnmovers that says "not a hedge trimmer". Apparently he tried it and is now missing ~1 hand.

If I am ever elected to a high enough office my first order of business will be to push thru the common sence law.

then allot of people will be

then allot of people will be guilty. its just like calling a pizza shop and asking does the pizza come with cheese and sauce. or people thinking there kid will learn by his/her self on why no to do this or that.lol the best one of them all. having your house robed and the robber falls and breaks his leg and sued you and he wins the case

Strange lawsuits

If you REALLY want entertainment, try visiting some
of the model railroading forums and read up on the
CONSTANT suing back and forth between the electric
train manufacturers (oops/ importers ) . They really
take the cake. And the constant quibbling among the
"knowledgeable" people (er/ arm-chair lawyers) con-
cerning the "impact on the hobby" and the "morality
and ethics" of it all.

The whole mess reads like a Congressional scandal!

It'll make you glad that you are just a "tech-head".

Huh?

Ever read The Darwin Awards website? Loads of stuff like this where you've got to wonder if the survivors take legal action.

I did model trains for a while; 1/24th scale, G-gauge, 42" gauge prototypes, New Zealand and British colonial. Been through all of that... and, yeah, you're right. Come on, folks! It's just a hobby!
One of the reasons I just don't mess with that stuff anymore. The very essence of humanity is to take a perfectly harmless pursuit and destroy it by complexity in one for or another.
