i'm wondering if it is possible to make your own projector using simple mirrors and a lens to enlarge a computer monitor image upon a wall. i was thinking of building a special table with glass on top, and a custom focus thingie similar to an overhead projector. if there is a simpler way or anyone else has any suggestions let me know. thanks.

sincerely, jay villneff.

Light is the issue

There's nothing technically stopping you from doing this - it's just that as you make the image larger, it will get dimmer. Every doubling in size, it will be half as bright. That's why OHPs have such bright globes in them. Using just the light from a monitor, you'll probably end up with something barely visible except in a totally dark room.

If you still think it's worth a try, the easiest way to build it is probably out of an existing OHP. You might be able to pick up an electrically-broken one with all the optics intact.

turn the gamma on the monitor

turn the gamma on the monitor WAY up. then stick an overhead's mirror/lens system over it.
