From www.kctv5.com there is a link (that doesn't work on my iBook as it seems to require IE or a PC) to a video of the news report I saw this evening about a woman who was caught living as an identity thief. When she stole a person's credit cards she would go to an Apple Store and buy a lot of equipment. I'm guessing that she then sold it locally for cash or turned it around on some place like eBay.
She had stolen a womans stuff on the Plaza, home to the Apple Store Country Club Plaza and got caught trying to buy $12k worth of Macs and iPods at the Apple Store West County in Des Peres (outside St. Louis) with those cards.
I'm guessing the high resale value of Macs is why she'd target Apple Stores.
I'd like to post another link to that story, but I haven't found one yet. The other news stations didn't cover it, it seeems.
My main issue, aside from the stupid site design, is that KCTV5 recently made big headlines trying to trap the police into doing unprofessional things at the main police station in my city. They went way over the line on that one. Oh well.
she has good taste, even though it was criminal....
