Some questions about apple iis

First can i make my own game paddle, or use an atari joystick?
Second what software titles available on the net do you recommend i try out.

Sure you can make your own paddle!

An online book from the Atari Archives, oddly, has some nice plans for various controllers on the Apple:

You can't use Atari joysticks and stuff directly; you need to convert the pinouts and signals. Chapter 9 of that book talks about it:

I don't have any suggestions for games for you. The ones I like are only of sentimental value, really.

i dont mean just games i mean

i dont mean just games i mean anything, utilities, games, office apps, any kind of software.
BTW: where can i find recordings of cassettes containing software for the apple ii
