Wacko SCSI and IDE id's on a B&W

Got something strange going on here guys!

I just installed an LG 4180B DVD-RAM drive so I can burn CDs and DVDs for the family photo collection I'm supposed to be scanning in (big job, stuff back to 1925 on film, some older stuff, too). Got a Dimage Multi, an Artixscan 4000t (both SCSI)and an Epson 3490 scanner (USB). Wrong Epson, but that's another story (some of the old negs are too big to scan with anything I've got).

So, I try to scan some stuff. The Artixscan works fine with Vuescan, but I cannot get the Multi to work -- check the SCSI IDs and they were the same (they were on different buses on the Beige). The SCSI card I'm using is the one that came with the Artixscan, I think it's an Adapte 3940, the usual one that works in both macs and PCs. At any rate, it worked perfectly in the Beige.

After three tries to use the Multi, I checked with system profiler and this is what I found:

No scanners on the SCSI bus (huh? The 4000t works fine with Vuescan), and the Multi is on the IDE bus with the DVD drive! Huh? Bizzare.

Anybody know what's going on here? I'm running OS 10.2.8 at the moment (10.3 is on the way), haven't tried booting into OS9 yet, may do that later (it's after 2 am -- too much coffee today).

Any help would be greatly appreciated! A different SCSI card, perhaps?

Thanks guys!

Peter

It sounds like to me that you need to either reset the pram by holding command-option-p-r on startup, or you might have a scsi termination issue! Good Luck!

Fixed it today -- booted the scanners up with my Wallstreet and everything worked OK (except for the flaky pluggin connection).

Took the terminator off the PB adapter and stuck it on the back of the B&W, and everything works. Who'd a thunk you needed to terminate the internal card twice?

I suppose one should look for the obvious first....

I love SCSI!
