OK, I think a forum along the lines of this may have already been made here, but I can't for the life of myself find it.
Anyway, my question was if it would be possible to take the floppy drive from my Centris 610 and put it in a IIci. The only differences I can think of are that the IIci's is auto-inject and the centris is manual.

Apple performed a gradual switch to the manual-inject floppy drive and some models (eg LCIII and 660AV) shipped with both manual- and auto-inject drives and appropriate case fascias. Manual-inject drive mechanisms are less tall than earlier auto-inject drives. Manual-inject mechanisms were made by a number of manufacturers and are fully interchangeable.
Manual- and auto-inject drives are not fully interchangeable. Enthusiasts report that the manual-inject drive appears to work in older Macs but that the converse is not always true. If a Mac is unable to use an auto-inject floppy drive, it will continuously operate the eject mechanism.

The only problem you should face is aligning the drive slot to the case's floppy slot. IIRC, the 610 uses the slimmer model of floppy and I've had alignment problems in the past using the smaller drive in Macs that shipped with the older larger drive.
The drive will otherwise work without any problems. Going the other way - using a auto-insert in a manual insert Mac - is where you get problems (in case anyone's interested, cutting pin 9 on the floppy cable disables the manual insert).
