odd screen problem

i just now noticed this on my old emac (the early 700 mhz g4 model). i'm seeing that the bottom of the screen seems to stutter for some odd reason. the top of the screen seems unaffected, and the effect itself is pretty subtle. just the bottom right corner is doing this, and the only reason i can think of for it is that i listen to loud dance music on this machine. muting the speakers doesn't change anything though, so what other ideas are there for fixing this? just don't tell me that the screen is going out.

Ok, I won't tell you...

... your screen is going out.

I posted a while back about a similar problem on a newer eMac, and a couple of people responded with some info and links that might pertain to yours. Didn't help with mine, but...

that photo doesn't look like

that photo doesn't look like what the screen is doing. it's not shrinking, but the image appears to kind of shake (very slightly, but with music going i notice it more). brightness seems to shift some with the shake. the only thing i can think is that the magnets in the speakers are affecting the screen since i keep the volume rather loud, but it doesn't make sense.

True,

... the photo doesn't likely show the problem you're seeing, because it's two radically different machines that we're talking about. What I should have emphasized was the MacFixIt link that Rev. Darkness added to my post; http://www.macfixit.com/staticpages/index.php?page=20030131071918881

The problem that I posted about came on gradually; it started in one corner and eventually involved the whole display. The article on the "Raster Shift" problem doesn't really say whether it comes on gradually or suddenly, but I thought it worth mentioning. Sorry I can't be of more help.

i did see an lcd idea mentioned on the page, but that would put the network admin computer out of commission for quite awhile. i'll see as time goes on.
