XpressSCSI USB-SCSI adaptor drivers?

Just bought one of these adaptor cables on the LEM swaplist (I assume it's the MicroTech one), and have searched diligently but unsuccessfully for drivers to download. Anyone have any ideas? I would like to connect my SCSI Jaz drives to my G4 flat panel iMac (Tiger), and also to my wife's Dell (Win 98).

Thanks,
Saul

There's a thread [b][url=http

There's a thread here on the subject, and if you scroll down a ways, someone did get a Jaz working with OS X.
Most of the USB to SCSI adapters were made by Shuttle, and IIRC the Entrega and Microtech ones are the same.
Never tried one on the PC. They're notoriously unreliable, and slow, so you might be better off getting cheap scsi card for the PC.

Might work

Hi Saul!

As eeun says, the earlier thread on this has a wealth of info. The main issue is whether or not your Jaz drive's SCSI ID selector will allow you to set the drive's ID to zero. (I know ZIP drives allow only ID 5 or 6 to be selected). If you cannot set the Jaz drive's ID to zero, then the drive will show up multiple times on the desktop - i.e. if you set the ID to 3, the drive will show up four times on your desktop (one each for IDs 0, 1, 2 and 3).

Other than that, though, it should work - especially since your iMac G4 used to be my iMac G4, and since I first successfully tested one of these Microtech adapters on that very Mac!

Best,
Matt

Thanks!

Hi Matt!

Thanks to you all for your replies. Yes, I believe the Jaz drives can be set to any SCSI ID (mine's in use at the moment, but I see it's set to 4). So the adaptor *should* work even without the driver the pdf says comes with it? Sure hope so, or else another device for the "devices without drivers" bin!

Best,
Saul
