Hi,

I have the 512k Mac game - Patton vs. Rommel and my Color Classic says it can't read the floppy.

Is a 512k floppy 800k or 400k? Can a CC read a 400k floppy? If it is indeed a 800k floppy does anyone know where I can download the game to reinitialize the floppy and put the game back on it? I assume the game is now abandonware since it is from 1988. I have search on Google but nothing for the mac version.

Thanks.

disks

Anything newer than a mac classic (i think) has a superdisk (the floppy, not dvd) that can read/write 400k 800k 1440k and MS-DOS disks. Try running disk doctor or an older version of norton on it. If you need a copy of norton disk utilities 1.0 email me (jeffreysk@verizon.net)

My Mac LC has problems reading reliably from a set of floppies designed for Fat Macs under System 7.0, so I don't know... might be that particular make of SuperDrive/Mac ROM as I know they share a lot of hardware.

Are you sure it's actually the drive and not the floppies getting old? Any floppy over 5 years or more is likely to start going down hill and any given change of temperature and humidity, and random electromagnetic surges... Tongue

Patton vs. Rommel Game

I finally dug out my Mac SE and it loads the disk fine under System 6.xx.

My new question is this: I want to play this on my machines. I tried to copy it to the SE hard drive but apparently it is copy protected. Was this the norm back than. A person can't even make a backup copy on another floppy? Is there a System 6 program that will make a .img file from it?
