Hi all,
I've recently got my Pismo 500 back up and running after a lengthy argument between it and the logic board, and to give a well-deserved 'welcome back to life' present, I've just bought a 30gb hard drive.
However, I've seen in a few places that there's a 'partition trap' with large hard drives fitted to Pismos, meaning i have to create an 8GB partition for system software when installing Tiger again - is this true?
It seems funny though, because my Pismo has a 10gb drive fitted at the moment (do the maths) and that has no partition. I re-installed Tiger the other day and didn't have to create one, hence my puzzlement when i read somewhere that I'll have to create a partition for a new, larger drive!!!
Any help will be most appreciated.

no u dont have to install x on the 1st 8gb. thats only with the wallstreet powerbook and beige g3 powermacs. the pismo does not need to have this done
Cheers fella. There's just so much conflicting info on the web. I thought it was strange when I re-installed the other day onto the 10gb drive without having to create a partition.
Excellent:)
yea, the problem with the 8gb limit on mac os x is limited to the old world macs. on a new world mac, this is not a problem.
