help, dead laserwriter pro 630!

Yesterday I was given a laserwiter pro 630 for free, but I was told that it had some issues.

today I tried it out and it prints blank pages all the time... Even the configuration page is blank. I replaced the toner with a brand new one and nothing changed.

Any suggestions on what could be wrong? Also, if anyone has the laserwriter pro 630 service manual PDF, I would be really greatful....

thanks!

check the engine first

Open the multipurpose tray, and look inside on the righthand side, there's a little hole (marked test print), behind which lies a button. Stick something in the hole and make it produce a test page with that button. IIRC it's just a page of lines, but at least you can check if the engine is working or not.

If it ain't, then . . . go to step two.

thanks for the replys guys!

Printed a test page, and nothing showed up at all... does toner go bad? I used a brand new toner, but I'm not sure how long it has been sitting around...

the printer has no errors, the green light turns on as it sould.....

Any more suggestions? Also, I have a spare HP laserjet 4 I could take parts from, I belive the use similar parts...

Do the pages come out warm or

Do the pages come out warm or cold? If they're cold, your fuser is dead. If they're warm, something's wrong with the imaging drum.

they come out slightly warm..

they come out slightly warm... not steaming or as hot as my new laser printer, but not cold... when I open the fuser door I can feel heat!

Your printer has what we call

Your printer has what we call the "cheap printer syndrome" and it can't be cured in most cases. What I mean by that is: no one gives away a perfectly good printer. As long as you got it for free, you'll end up paying the service costs.
