Hello!

Is there anyway to transfer .dsk files to real Apple IIe? I know there are programs/emulators like Virtual II to transfer files but the serial connection is a must on both side (mac and apple II)
Problem is that niether my Mac or Apple IIe have serial ports ... So I tought is there posible to convert .dsk file to audio? So I could transfer the data trough Audio out on mac and Audio in On Apple II (cassete player ports) ...

Last chance for me is to transfer files trough somebody who has allready managed to connect this two machines, and is willing to help me?
I got 10 empty 5.2" floopy disks I would like to send to a good soul who would loaded them for me with the .dsk abandon games I found on the internet ...

anybody?

tnx!

As you guessed, the typical way this happens is through serial connections. There are lots of options - Virtual II's A2V2, ADTPro, MacADT. But all require serial connections.

You could transfer a single program (a range of memory) to an audio file and then load that through the cassette in. But anything more than that (a whole .DSK image, say) would require a catcher program and a protocol at the Apple II end. Might be an interesting project... Commodore users have lots of (whatever)ToWAV programs. Wouldn't be too much trouble to build one of our own.

Well, it was much more trouble than I had expected, and turned into kind of a minor obsession for the past month and a half. But now you can do all kinds of transfers using the cassette in/out ports and your computer's audio card. Not that it's a lot of fun to watch data go at 1800 baud, but still... See:

that is great!

David,

I only lurk on the IIe end of the fritter, as my IIe has yet to be dusted off, but this is great. Thanks for the effort that went into this creation. Now you make me want root around the attic for my Transwarp, IIe, and green-screen monitor I have. Thanks!
Smile
Mike
