I've done it ...

a handful of times, and wish never to do it ever again. Unfortunately, it's a case of read the Apple service manual, take your time, and pace yourself. This is not a job to rush through. Expect to spend one - two hours on the job. You will be stripping the machine down to its bare components to say the least. That said, it's easier on the 15" than the 17", and I had to go through therapy over the 20" that I did.

It's probably the most unpleasant repair of any Apple product I have ever seen. And yes, I am including complete teardown and rebuild of a 12" PowerBook G4 in that metric. It's been about three years since I've done one.

I see what you mean. I have started it already. Guess I am too impatient. (I have the service manual). I have done the base part and have the LCD panel out of the frame and I think I will stop there until the new neck arrives in the mail.

I hope it goes back together as uneventful as taking it apart was.

Thanks.
