replacing a combo drive in an ibook G3

i bought a refurbished ibook G3 and the day after my warranty went up my combo drive went nuts. I have found some cheap combo drives on the internet but i do not know how to install one. If anyone can help out a poor college student, any advice is welcome. It would save me about 300 dollars. thanks
