I have an old Palm Vx that i got a few years ago for $5 at a yard sale. It came with a modem, 2 serial docks, and 2 power cords. I was dissapointed to discover I could not use it with my Macs since it was serial only on the docks. I recently dug it back up and wondered if maybe there was a way to sync it with my Powerbook G3 using infrared. Does anyone know if this can be done and what software I would need? Currently the Powerbook is running 10.2.8, but I can dumb it down to OS 9 if need be. So far I'm not having much luck on Google search.
The first hit in Google for "palm vx mac os x" came up with:
http://www.palm.com/us/software/desktop/mac.html
And you can use serial with your Mac, so long as you have a cable to a Mac serial port, if you Mac has one, or probably a USB to serial converter if you Palm can't use a USB dock.
Edit, further Googling brings the ReadMe for Palm Desktop 4.1 that says:
Oh well that kinda sucks. Mine is a Wallstreet, so no IR syncing for me. I did find a serial to Mac serial converter cable that seems to work, but i get an error when I try to transfer.
Problems solved. I got it to sync up and I'm in business.
