iBook G3 500, Installing Mac OS 9

Whenever I try to install Mac OS 9 on this iBook, and I boot from the 9.1 CD, I get a "Bus Error" with no code. I heard that this could be a RAM problem, but I tried to take the metal RAM cover off, but one of the screws was so tight, I could not get it off. If anyone has any suggestions for me, I would be very appreciative! Thanks!

i'm hoping you used a jeweler

i'm hoping you used a jeweler's screwdriver to get the cover off. that's what it needs, and i've never had any trouble getting mine off with it.

I did get a precision screwdr

I did get a precision screwdriver set from Lowes, that worked on the other screw, but the other one is tightened so much, it will not come out.

i'll say, it sometimes takes

i'll say, it sometimes takes quite a bit of pressure to get the screws out sometimes. is swapping the ram the simplest issue there is? i'm guessing so since the other bus devices that come to mind are the hard drive and optical drive. give it another try, but be careful not to give yourself a blister with the screwdriver. i have, and it sucks.

i guess i'm admitting i had trouble, but i've gotten two ibooks completely apart, so i have gotten the screws out.
