OS 9 Menu Bar Question

Hi,
I noticed that my OS 9.2.2 menu bar edges are not rounded as they should be like in every Mac OS version.
Instead the menu bar shape is a simple rectangle.
What can be the cause of this?
Is it related to the fact that my screen is LCD?

Thanks,
Tal

What machine.

What Macintosh machine are you running it on? It would be helpful to know.

Maybe obvious, but...

Have you adjusted the horizontal size? If your desktop is extending a tiny bit further to the right and left of the LCD's viewable area, you'll lose the rounded corners.

The machine is 20th Anniversary Macintosh

The screen resolution is 800x600 and as far as I know, it is impossible to change the displayed image position on LCD screens, only the resolution can be changed and I'm currently using the native resolution of 800x600.

No rounded corners on PowerBo

Is it related to the fact that my screen is LCD?

In a word: Yes!

No rounded corners on PowerBooks or the TAM. The rounded corners are for CRTs (and other external monitors) only, probably because square corners would look terrible on low-quality CRTs where the image quality gets bad in the corners.

Sorry, you can't change this. The rounded corners are set according to a system gestalt, and the TAM says to use square corners. This happens at boot time, and cannot be easily overridden (though you _might_ try installing Wish I Were and selecting the Power Mac 5500 as the gestalt instead of the TAM). Another workaround might be to use Kaleidoscope.

Peace,
Drew

re: No rounded corners on PowerBooks

Well, just to needlessly clarify, no rounded corners under classic MOS.

My OS 10.3.x 'Books show rounded menubar corners. IIRC, Tiger does too, but round corners are absent in Leopard.
