So I have an old Apple IIgs and I was really hoping to take advantage of the Ensoniq DOC (Found in the Mirage and ESQ-1 synths) in some way shape or form, but I can't if the drive doesn't work. Anyway, I replaced the drive because I thought that the original was faulty. Now I realize that it probably isn't the drive. The drive will eject if I press the button, but it makes no effort to read the disk or anything. I checked the settings and all the slots are set to the factory originals. Any ideas?

Just a quick question, what slot is the computer set to boot from? If it's set to slot 6 that explains your trouble. Go into the Control Panel and make sure that the GS is set to boot from slot 5. If it's already set to slot 5 then I'm at a loss, especially since you say you've already replaced your drive.

I guess you're going to be at a loss then. I just tried it, nothing's changed.
