Pre-MacWorld 2008 updates? Is MW SF 2008 gonna be BIG news?

Apple announced updates to the Mac Pro and the Xserve. That's odd to do just before a MacWorld, isn't it? I've seen rumors of stuff that may be announced at MW, and some of it I like, like the Mac Nano, if the price is accessible. Anyone got ideas for what couple possibly get Apple to put out a product generation update a week before its own major conference?

They announced the updates because Intel announced new CPUs at CES. Apple's just trying to keep up.

Yeah, there have been a huge

Yeah, there have been a huge list of new systems from HP, etc. I think it is a tad odd that they do it when they have a "captive" (or captivated Wink ) audience of their very own in a week though.

Being that Apple is now a "co

Being that Apple is now a "consumer electronics" company, and not a computer company - I'm expecting non mac announcements at MacWorld.

Here are my safe bets for MWSF 2008
- Rev 2 iPhone - Still locked to ATT, 3G, 8 & 16gb capacity models, price cut. Same enclosure and form factor.
- Apple TV update - maybe a bigger hard drive, better remote/interface

A small form factor professional laptop (ala PowerBook Duo and 12" PBG4) would be nice, but I doubt that Apple would make such a product. The continual rumor of Apple making a handheld replacement for the newton is going to go strong, but nothing will ever come of it.
