PowerBook 180c Problem..?

Okay I have a 180c and its got 7.1 on it, and no disks when inserted work, it givens an error disk unreadable (the disks are okay), then you go to initialize and it gives an error saying the disk is write protected (its not and ejects the disk), any ideas? I need this as part of a project for programming programs for the Newton.

Any help would be great!

Thanks!

Clean it . . .

Hey,

Clean the floppy drive drive. That's where I'd start. Or replace it.

Yeah I did replaced it once with a used one then replaced it with a brand new AppleService part! Still no luck some how the main board is bad? Or maybe the OS is corrupt?

Start simple . . .

Hey,

What shape is the floppy drive ribbon in? I don't see the OS as the culprit but that doesn't mean anything if I'm wrong. Except how do you install a new OS with a fritzy floppy? You could install one over AppleTalk. While that's installing you could paint the garage or finish your PhD thesis. It's worth a shot. If you really think the floppy is good and by what you say that seems to be the case, then there isn't much else it can be.
