Sonnet Tempo ATA100 in 10.3 or 10.4

Has anyone played with this card in 10.3/10.4 and if so, did it work?

Thanks,

Chris P.

I've got one. I've got it in

I've got one. I've got it in a DA G4 right now running a hard drive in OS 10.3.9. Works fine. I tried it in my 9600 but couldn't get it to work. Don't know why. It may have something to do with compatibility with the other PCI cards I had in the 9600, or with the 9600 itself, I wasn't sure. I used a Tempo ATA66 instead which worked with no problem, but that was with OS 9. I never tried 10.3 on my 9600. I listed the details of my maxed out 9600 here. The Tempo ATA66 was always a very reliable card. It's actually an Acard labelled by Sonnet. The Tempo ATA100 is made by someone else. Mine has a Promise chip on it. I suspect the Acard is generally better suited for Macs and you wouldn't see any performance difference between ATA66 and ATA100 in a 9500, but I think I've seen it written on Sonnet's website or somewhere that the ATA66 is only supported up through 10.2--which may mean nothing at all, don't know. Somewhere along the line I completely screwed up my Tempo ATA66's ROM--doing what, I'm not sure, but I trade out cards between my comps a lot--so I can't tell you if it works ok with 10.3 or not. Sorry, I can't give you a definite thumbs up or down on your question from my experience. Playing around with PCI cards in a 9500/9600 is often hit and miss, and then pushing the machine beyond its intended limits make things much more chancy.

I picked up a sonnet ata100 f

I picked up a sonnet ata100 for my pm9500... If it works, it will breathe a lot of new life into my tower... now for the next question... which mac (or maclone) should I upgrade my tower to? this case is a little bit annoying, but if the s910 or other mac clone gives better performance than the 9600, I'll go for that.

Thanks for your time,

Chris P.
