G4 iBook DVD stuck in drive

I foolishly had Staples install a new hard drive in my iBook, and since that time, I have had trouble with my DVD drive, notably that I can't insert a disc as something seems to be blocking the drive. Staples managed to jam a CD when I asked them to fix it, but now I can't get their CD out. It spins up fine and works to read the CD they stuck in, but I can't make it eject. They tried booting with the mouse button in, and I have tried everything I can think of.
Any ideas? What is keeping the disc inside? It appears to be about the mid point of the drive slot, and it is about a 1/4 inch wide, which is just a guess from trying to force it open.
Thanks for your help.

Have you tried...

...dragging the CD's icon to the trash? mmmm, maybe it's not visible.

Does your iBook have access to the internet?

Download BurnX Free, it has an eject button.

Or Ejection Seat. It can eject troublesome disks.

If it is physically stuck, take it back to Staples. Somethings loose. They're responsible for returning a working iBook.

Force eject CDs

• Similarly to the programs described above, iTunes has an eject button as well. It's probably already on the machine. Toast has one too.

• Hold the F12 key for five seconds. An eject symbol should appear on the display and the CD should eject. If not, try holding down the "fn" key as you hold F12. If still no joy, try:

• Restart the machine and hold down the F12 key immediately after the chime. The CD should eject. Or:

• Restart the machine and hold down the trackpad button or mouse button immediately after the chime. The CD should eject. Or:

• Restart the machine and hold down Apple-Option-O-F immediately after the chime. At the grey screen, type "eject cd" and press return. The CD should eject. Type "mac-boot" to restart the machine.

If none of these work, Staples needs to redo the repair -- the right way this time.
