new mac user wants assistence

I am a new mac user, thanks to my boyfriend, iamdigitman. He has made me love macs, or at least want a mac very very badly. right now i am using ubuntu on my hp pavilion laptop, which he installed and made work for me, I am very grateful for him and his incredible brain.

I was just wondering if anyone could offer any advice on finding a decent laptop, probably a g3 pismo like he uses but I am open to suggestions.

g3 pismo?

Unless there is some specific reason you want a g3, I would try something more up to date. I would just figure out how much you are willing to spend, and see what you can find in that range. Although the people at Apple do make their occasional stupid mistake, they do tend to improve every time they put out a hardware or software update, so if you can afford it, I'd go for the recent line of MacBooks or MacBook Pros, before thinking of stepping back to the g4, then g3's. If you have the money, buy direct from apple, I'd say, but if you don't, my first laptop was from smalldog electronics (smalldog.com) that still sells some used older models, and there are usually really good deals at craigslist.org, but those are person to person sales, so your milage may vary, and if anything ever feels fishy (I've never had a problem), don't waste your time. You might also want to type in "MacBook" and/or "Powerbook", in a google search, and see what the shopping searches have to offer. Google knows all, tells all.
