Macintosh IIci, no boot up.

I recently got a Macintosh IIci. There's a problem with it though, it doesn't start up, it's dead cold. No PSU fan, no light, no hard drive, no chime, nothing, as if not even plugged in(it is plugged in by the way). I've tried changing the PRAM battery, no work, both keyboard and machine power button, no work, and the PSU is fine because I tested it in another machine. I do not have an official Apple monitor to connect to the machine, only a converter, from mac to VGA, which I can't get working with any other machines except my G3 AIO. Does anyone know what could be the possible problem?

It fixed.

It just started working for some reason. No help needed.

I dunno about your power prob

I dunno about your power problem, unless you've hit the PMU/CUDA reset button to restart the power controller. Often the IIci and IIsi have issues with certain video adapters, and IIRC it was typically VGA ones.

Not again.

I might need more help, it stopped working again. I'm not sure what's going on with it, the motherboard itself is fine, I just don't know if something is loose or messed up.

Okay...

Now it's working, this time I got it to work by whacking it on my knee. It's all fine, if it stops working again, I know how to fix.

You've probably got a basic c

You've probably got a basic connectivity fault that deserves a more permanent fix.

1. Clean the contacts on SIMM boards using a pencil eraser. Clean up any mess using alcohol. If unsure, search around for information about cleaning PCB contacts/fingers. This is worth doing anyway given the age of a IIci and possible age of SIMMs.

2. Investigate the contacts between the PSU and the logic board. If they look a bit dirty, report back here or search appropriately. Cleaning them will be very frustrating.

3. Probably the one to start with. Try a different power cable, ensure that it is a snug fit and that the contacts are clean.

4. Clean around the reset switch and rear case power switch. Make sure that the rear case power switch is not in an ambiguous position.

5. Worn ADB ports may make power on from the keyboard unreliable.
