I have one of the first 17-inch iMac G5s running Tiger that I now wish to add an airport card to. The manual makes it seam a pretty simple task but I just wanted to clarify with other users here exactly what I need.

From what I've read so far, I can only use an Airport Extreme card. Is there any adapter required for this (like for the G3 iMac)? Also, will I need to find any drivers to be able to use it?

I've found plenty Airport Extreme cards on eBay but would there be any reason to go with a new in box over a used one? Used ones a much cheaper.

Thanks in advance,
Simon27

you will not need drivers for

you will not need drivers for the card, as you are running tiger, and to my knowledge only the imac g3s needed an adapter. also yes, you will need an airport extreme card and, if it is not to big of price difference i would buy nib, b/c airport cards sometimes stop functioning properly.
