As Macworld reports, the independent documentary Welcome to Macintosh will be airing on cable network CNBC this coming Monday, January 4, at 9:30pm Eastern time. Apple I Replica creator (and Applefritter member) Vince Briel gets a lengthy interview in the film, and Applefritter itself gets a nice plug. If you have cable TV and haven't seen Welcome to Macintosh, be sure to check it out!

Don't feel too bad, it was heavily edited. Vince still got a few quotes in here and there about Apple and Macs in general, but his entire section about replicating the Apple I (including the Applefritter shout-out) was cut entirely.

Yeah, I noticed that too. I D

Yeah, I noticed that too. I DVR'd the rerun, just to see if they did that. Having seen the original, full version, I kept thinking "WTF, where did this part go?". Oh well, it's sitting on my hard drive.

The full movie was less than an hour and a half long, so they cut out some really good parts and added a lot of commercials to make it an hour and a half long. They should have aired the whole thing unedited (except for commercial breaks), and done an hour and 45 minutes, or two hours. But I guess that is why I am not in the entertainment business. All that scheduling would drive me insane.

"Welcome To Macintosh" and "Macheads".......

Mornin' Doc,

I Sat
I Watched
I Pondered.....

I was not sure what I was watching with "Welcome". I think there was a lot of information that was either cut out to make it fill a slot, or the folks just skimmed over the full history to suit thier purposes.

Now, no one holler at me for saying this, but "Macheads" seemed more like an "All Hail King Jobs!" show than anything else. You would think that the producers would have wanted to get into the minds of the folks that use a Mac to find out what makes them want to use it.

There are plenty of those. I personally find the OS reliable and easy to use. I use PCs at work (since I have no choice) and Both at home.

Of course I also work on Apple II's, so the tie in with Mac was easy.

But I digress....

My personal opinion is that although each show had some merits, both were missing substance.
