A couple of questions . . .

. . . has anyone got a 190 or 5300 and a 3400 to check something out for me? Will the 5300's FDD module "fit" into the bay of a 3400? Is the 190/5300 module the same color as the 3400 module? It doesn't need to work or even to be connector compatable.

I'm actually only interested to see if the cover plastics of a 3400 can be cut down to match up with the modified opening of my 5300c/CD Hack.

I'll be checking the mechanicals in the DevNotes, but I've never even seen a 3400, so I need the color info. You don't need to own the 'Books, if someone just knows either answer, that'd be a big help too.

TIA

p.s. if anyone has a spare 3400 blank module cover, a borked or functional CD cover/module to sell inexpensively, lemme know. I, don't need drives, just the plastics, if the answers come back positive, I'll post a WTB.

1. Don't use "bump" posts.

1. Don't use "bump" posts.

2. Yes, 190/5300 floppy drives work in the 3400. Any expansion-bay module made for the 190/5300 works in the 3400.

3. The color should be the same.

I'm a dyslexic typist . . .

. . . so my initial-bump-posts® are absolutely necessary and they're obviously NOT the sort proscribed here on 'fritter. Just get rid of the obnoxious ineditability of initial posts "feature" and I'll gladly stop . . . or if T.O. asks me nicely to stop.

If you don't like the nomenclature I've adopted, that's another issue entirely. I see yuour point that it could cause confusion. How about "ineditability avoidance posting: see next post®" as a substitute?

I'm flexible. :ebc:

Thank you very much for the quick answer, it's MUCH appreciated. The 3400 module is actually PERFECT! I can't use it conventionally, but the flush sidewall makes it a MUCH better fit for hackage.
