... oh, wait... it's summer now, idnit?

Well, the severe T-storms, lightning, torential rain, 80-90 mph winds, possible tornadoes, and flash flooding tell me that it's still May... And the fact that we are in for the exact same thing tonite just has me all full up of warm fuzzy feelings.

I've already had to clean up several downed branches, 6 dead baby birds, 8 pieces of panel insulation (probly from about 6 blocks North), a 40 gallon drum of paint (no telling where that came from), and a newspaper vending machine out of my yard. What wonderful treasures will I find tomorrow? Will it be the neighbors' fence? Or their car? Or the neighbors themselves?

Well, true believers, you'll have to tune in then to find out!

Yeah, our power went out last night and came on about 30mins ago. This morning, I had to saw up a rather large piece of a tree. Not much else happened.

Bloody weather

I wasn't aware that this strange weather stretched that far south.

Up here in Ontario, we've just gone through torrential rain, flash flooding, a few tornadoes touching down (though no harm done - mustn't have been in range of any trailer parks).

Sure, it's spring, but we normally don't get such heavy storms. They closed part of the highway I take to work yesterday, because there was so much rain in such a short time, that the ditches overflowed and created a new creek across the middle of the mountain access.*

* Special note: Hamilton is a quirky place. It's mostly a good, honest steel town, but it sits below the Niagara escarpment, which used to be the shore of a prehistoric lake. Hamiltonians call this piece of the escarpment a mountain. No one knows why.

And I'm really getting tired of running around unplugging all the computers for all these thunderstorms.

No mailboxes or fences in my yard yet, Rev, but I know...everything's bigger...Wink

Lessee...is this The Day After Tomorrow or Lucifer's Hammer? Take yer pick.;D

On saturday I was waiting in

On saturday I was waiting in the basement while a bunch of tornadoes played in the storm around us. The biggest of the bunch that day was one that was on the ground for about 2 1/4 hours. It got up to F-4 power for a time. That bad boy started only about 5 miles or less from where we were and went for 48 miles before it died off. A local traffic helicopter reporter got nearly all of it on video, and they say it's one of the rare times that they ever got the formation, rise, fall, and dissipation of a tornado of that magnitude on video.

Oh, and it was the birthday party for my wife's paternal grandmother. She just turned 88, and survived a quadruple by-pass last month. She still walks without a cane, and if her legs weren't chopped up, she'd probably drive too. Shock

Climb a mountain and look down at all those clouds...

(Oh, and last night we were blessed by 80mph winds durning the thunderstorm and some flash flooding...)
