PlainTalk, 2001, and feedback

I already have a few sound bites from 2001/2010, but they are canned quotes from the film (and later from the Apple commercial promo featuring the vocal talent of the same artist - name eludes me). Does any one know of a 'hack' or existing add-in for PlainTalk? I want my computer's vocal feedback and text-to-speech to be the voice of HAL.

How hard would it be to code your own custom voice for this?

My primary interest is for OS 9, but would like to know for OS X as well if it is different.

Cool Ideia, but...

unless you could hire Douglas Rain (the guy who did the voice of HAL) this will be very hard. Try google.

The voices aren't coded--they

The voices aren't coded--they're recorded audio. The voice talent sits in a studio all day and records saying different syllable combinations. Unless you have a recording studio, the necessary software and the $$$ to hire the guy, good luck.

hmmm...

This being the case, could I not clone one of the voices and systematically replace the existing syllables with clean, scrubbed exracts from existing recordings of the Douglas Rain (the actor in question)? It should not be much different than if I wanted to use my own voice.

How do I 'hack' the file?

ResEdit

I like ResEdit, but when I crack open one of the data files to try to hack at it, it can't be opened because it is too big. Does anyone have a good way to open the data files in some kind of editor (preferably with a template). I am bound and determined to hack one of these voice files. I can create the sound samples, but I need a way to translate it into a file format that can be read as a voice.
