upload logic board scans?

I tried to upload scans but got a "Upload directory is full." error. I've got scans of TiBooks 867 and 1gHz MLBs I'd like to contribute but . . .

PS: . . .

A couple of issues-

the chips are rather small on these boards, plus my scanner seems to want to "glare out" the chip markings. I haven't marked up the scan images yet, but I guess I'll have to 'cause if I don't the chips aren't IDable.

Also, the upload spec calls for 72 ppi, is that realistic? I mean, that barely carries enough info to ID the board, let alone any of its chips.

Nope . . .

. . . 72 DPI is nothing like what the NuBus Mafia spec called for IIRC, maybe that's for the smaller images for linking to the "real scans" or something like that? Email dana for her tips on the proper scanning parameters/techniques and hints about tuning the images.

Maybe ask her to post them here for the rest of us pixel-pikers too!

Odd

It can't be an issue of disk space. We have 126 GB available. I just successfully uploaded a 23MB file and I can't find any permissions issue that would prevent you. Can you provide more details? Were you using the create content -> upload file method? Did the error come from your browser or from the CMS?

It is...

Actually, 72 dpi is what the specs call for... Surely that can't be right?

Nope . . . SURELY CAN'T . . .

. . . be right, that'd be useless! IIRC the spec calls for a white background too, which makes me sure you've got the thumbnail view spec in place of the REAL SCAN spec.

. . . white backgrounds are F(reakin')*U*G*L*Y*!*!*!*! Wink

All the best/cleaned up (thx, maniac!!!) scans in the database have black backgrounds and that's a LOT easier to achieve than a white background. Swapping colors for the thumbnail views would be duck soup compared to cleaning up to get white borders on full sized scans . . . AFAIK anyway.

BTW: the "component sides" of all the cards seem to still be AWOL. The "solder sides" are intrigueing . . . but not all THAT informative all on their ownsome!

p.s. I think we need a special forum just for the Mafia project, maybe vHacks postings, community based Tech Support for content creation in general and for the AF2.0 forums in particular. This joint is STILL freakin' ghost town after how many months? Something is rotten in the oil of the deep fryer if you ask me!

. . . besides . . . I still don't have a clue as to how to install a freakin' avatar! Blush

Semi-automated-self-correcting 'fritter 2.0 FAQ generation in such a forum would be VERY helpful, IMHO.

You've got it

Email me with what you want and we'll get things set up.

To set an avatar, btw, go to my account -> edit account, scroll down to "Avatar", and click "Choose picture".

n00b n00k?

HEH! ::) . . . dunno what it should be like, let's open it for discussion here . . . or should we start a new thread with a descriptive title? Mebbe a "forums hacks?" thread in 'stealth's domain? Hacks-n-hackers seem to be the bread-n-butter of this joint.

Whatcha think? I was just tossin' random thoughts out there to open up some dialogue . . . we seem to be off on a good start!
