Server for 5 Macintosh Workstation & 2 PC

I got 5 Macintosh Workstation & 2 PC in my company, which include G3 & G4 machine. And actually my company is a advertising company that do video editing and graphic designing. Currently I want to setup a server to centralize the storage of data. Should I use Macintosh based server or Windows based server? Any recommendation of which brand and the spec? thank you.

What machines do what?

I order to give you my opinion (from the standpoint of someone who works for a company that makes cross-platform networking software), I would need to know what machines do what... What do the PC's do? What do the Macs do? What OS's are you running on all of the machines? What level of expertise are we looking at? How much of a budget do you have?

(geez... can you tell I ever did software support, or what?)

what the machine do?

Actually I got 2 PowerMac, 1 G3, 4 G4 and 2 Pentium4.

Two of the G4 use Final Cut Pro, Combustion, After Effect, Illustrator and Photoshop. Most of the time do graphic designing and video editing. Another G4 is using Avid video editing software.

G3 machine is using Illustrator and Photoshop. This machine use for graphic designing.

PowerMac is using Avid video editing software.

While Pentium 4 is using 3D animation software such as Lightwave and Maya.

All the data is quite big since it involve video and also 3D graphics. Actually all the computer are network already, normally when want to share data then only will open the connection. Is it cost efficient to setup a server to centralize all the data so that everyone can share the data anytime?

Should I use Mac or other machine as the server? Any recommendation?
Thank you.
