iBook Question dont know if this is considered a Hack

I am looking for some advise I have one of those iBooks that apple replaced the motherboard due to there recall program. Now it does show the serial number when you go to the about this computer where it should show it. Another thing when it was in for repair i guess they broke the palm rest and replaced it. When that whole ordeal happened they stuck a stick with hand written serial number on it. Now I'm looking to sell this one and get a G4 iBook. But the people I have talked to and explained this dont believe this happened. OK TO THE QUESTION can i somehow put the serial number back into the systems motherboard, via the open firmware or something. PLEASE HELP it would make really easier if I had the serial number show up in the system profiler. thanks

Solution:

Head to your local Apple Store and yell obscenities at everyone until they fix it for you.

Or, if you're NOT like my dear mother, explain the situation to them and find out if they can do anything about it.

The Serial is part of the Mot

The Serial is part of the Motherboard. So when it was replaced, it became a new one. And since it wasn't OEM, they had to write it in by hand.
