I have a Formac external CD-RW burner as pictured below:
I can open up the case which appears to have a LSI Logic chip inside and replace the CD-RW drive. I want to put a DVD burner in the case. Will I have any hardware compatiblity problems if I do this? I believe these Formac drives where made around 2001.

That particular case design is pretty generic...I remember seeing Sony external burners use that same case (albeit in white plastic). You should have no problems swapping in a different optical drive.
