Takky Good News, Plus a FS announcement!

I found an LC575 today! Yay! Time to disassemble it!

Now I can replace the A/B in my Takky/575. When I was first posting about the Takky/575 project, nobody seemed to care. Does anyone now care about getting 800x600 on their takky by using an LC575 A/B conversion? If so, I'll post pics as I go, and write up a how-to webpage. If not, I'll just cram it in there and get on with my life.

As a side note to this happiness, I have an extra LC575 motherboard for sale! This particular board has the original 68LC040 processor and comes with an 8MB SIMM and two 512k VRAM SIMMs. (That means 1000s of colors, instead of 256)

I'll perform the resistor mod that makes it plug-and-play in a CC for $10, or ship it to you stock. Price: Make me an offer--you pay for shipping anywhere. No "shipping and handling fees", just make me an offer, and pay actual shipping cost.

Anyway, back to your regularly schedule Color-Classic Mac'ing!

Forgot to add that this 575 b

Forgot to add that this 575 boots up to the message that "the date and time are incorrect" which makes it pretty sure, but not positive, that there's a dead PRAM battery. Make me an offer. Smile

I was interested

...just didn't have any information to contribute on the matter. The only 575 I've ever come across was smashed to bits with the exception of the mobo, which I of course kept for a Mystic mod.

I think a good write-up on the 575 AB mod would be a real asset to the CC community, and I'd be really interested in seeing it. I know myself and Dead Elvis went through a lot of adjusting working with the Colour Plus AB in a CC (Dead Elvis succeeded, I failed), and at the time I remember some discussion of the 575 AB being an option as well.

I need to re-do the wiring harness on my Takky (to the AB, plus extending the IDE, and re-wiring nearly everything else), and could use seeing a good inspirational CC mod to get me fired up. Wink

575 a/bs

I bought two, but decided in the end that it is such a hassle, because of the incursion of the extra sound components into the otherwise clear margin on one side of the board, that it wasn't worthwhile. The bump required cutting of the plastic chassis, and probably realingnment of the edge connector which receives the a/b. Sad

By all means, do a write up.

By all means, do a write up. Just because people don't respond a lot doesn't mean much; there are lurkers and people who 5 years from now might run across it and find it useful. I have another CC project ahead in line, but an SVGA Mystic is 2nd on my list (I've had the parts for a while and had it set up and working, but not with the case on. Then I moved to a new house and it went into storage). I would like to see a write up just to see what other people do to get around the a/b size issue.

Yes, please!

I've got a CC that I'd love to do a converson on, but the analog board modifications kinda scare me. If there is a way to transplant the analog board from another machine & get it to work, well that's great!

And like dead_elvis says, doing it for the sake of posterity is always a good idea.
