emate - repair tinning

After scraping down to bare metal on the punctured cables, I polished them smooth with an eraser. This really made a difference, as solder tinned the cables far better than it did on my practice cable that wasn't 'erased'.
Once the cable was tinned, I held the wire strand above the cable and lightly 'kissed' the iron to the wire and ribbon cable. It sometimes took a few tries. The wire would move to one side, thanks to the rounded shape of the tinned traces, or I'd touch too quickly, afraid I'd melt the cable if too much heat was applied.
Again, these traces are TINY. That's standard 1" masking tape holding the cable flat.
