So, im on a 17 inch flat panel imac (1.25 ghz) i want to replace the ram on the logic board. I have a 512 in the user accesable expansion slot, but have another 512 stick thatr is the same kind that goes on the logic board. i have seen tutorials online, and know i can do it without a hitch, giving me a nice 1gb of ram (512 on logic board 512 on expansion slot). My question is, i know this will peobably void my warranty, as its still under the normal 1 year, but I also have applecare for it. So will it void that too, because it it dosent, then im gunna go ahead and do it.
Thanks yall
eric
Apple Warranty: Installing Memory, etc.
dan k
and they said itll void everything, so its a no go
damn!
It says specifically that adding RAM is not modifying the computer, so does not void the warranty.
dan k
did, ij not that stupid
what i am saying
is tyhat this is not user installablable part
it MUSt be installed by a serviice tech, or my warranty is voided
on a g4 imac there are 2 slots for ram
1 you can replace without voiding the warranty and the other you will void thwe warranty.
I would take the iMac and the stick of RAM along to a Apple Store and get a technician to do it. They probably won't charge much as you already have the RAM.
But AFAIK unless you actually break the computer installing the RAM then how is Apple going to tell that it was you that installed it?If you ever have to get it fixed in the future and they ask, just say that you got a technician to do it
TOM
Because they will annotate it in gsx that they added the ram.
