When i go to install itunes on my machine it says
1608: Unable to Create InstallDriver instance,
Return code: -2147024894.
I had itunes installed before and i uninstalled it for a couple months then tried to reinstall it.
What could be happening?

mac or windoze?
Windows. I had an earlier version installed but now i cant install the latest without the error.
Go to Start>Run and type in msconfig. Check too see if there are any iTunes or iPod startup programs in the Startup tab. If there are, de-select them and restart. If that doesn't work, open regedit, then search and delete everything iTunes. Make sure all the old iTunes folders and files are deleted as well.

i just spent about 2 hours working on this and finally i got it.
what you need to do:
read the whole process first and then start out
1. open the C:\Program Files\Common Files\InstallShield\Driver\8\Intel 32\ folder
2. run the itunes setup file, but keep the other window open. as soon as it gets to the point where it is about to have the error pop up, double click on the idriver and idriver2 icons in the folder you have open. this manually starts the installdriver instance.
3. after that, you should be good
