Worse...

That picture showed an AGP card being crammed into a PCI slot. The fact that it is having the opposite effect on people is just plain weird.

From time to time...

From time to time I see magazine articles and websites with both vague and direct references to using PCI cards in an AGP slot, and vice versa.

Most manufacturers seem to be aiming to phase out AGP by the end of 2005, so I guess this isn't going to be a problem for much longer Smile

Pardon my ignorance, but what is replacing it?

Hmm...

I believe they are planning on replacing AGP with PCI-Express. There are some high-end PC boards that have it already.

As for as the title of this post. I once saw a product produced by a Japanese company that allowed a AGP card to be used in a PCI slot, or maybe it was the other way around. It was quite real. I heard about it while cruising around a 3Dfx-related forum.

AGP is on its last days. PCI

AGP is on its last days. PCI-express is the future and the newest and fastest and the bestest video cards in the future will be pci-express only (maybe a year or so from now).

Well, as long as AGP has the cheapest-est, most affordable-est, most likely to be found for $30 used-est cards, I'll be happy, since I don't plan on having a G5 for a good long time Wink

I'm kinda happy about pci exp

I'm kinda happy about pci express taking over for a simlilar reason. The used market for agp video cards including the high end ones wil drop quite a bit in the near future as people no longer want their expesnive agp cards and start migrating towards pci express.

And yes, i meant besterestest.
