Clamshell sleep LED

I really love my indigo ibook, but the green sleep LED just isn't grooving with the style. Does anyone know if the LED is a standard LED or a surface mount? I have looked on google and Apple docs, but to no avail. Thanks in advance.

The LED is surface mount!

I have taken apart a Clamshell Lid and the LED is a surface mount.

I'm pretty sure they're (yes, ther're, there are 2, one ant the front, and one at the back) surface mount, I just tried to look, but one of the screws on the back of it would not undo! (the plastic mount for the bit it screws onto has (I think) broken.)

It's surface mount, package 1206. It's very easy to replace. You don't even have to take the display apart. Just remove the little plate over the LED. It's 2 screws. In fact, you don't even need to remove the circuit board it sits on. If you are near San Jose I can do it for you in about 20 seconds.

thanks Dr. Bob, I may try it then. Unfortunately I'm about 1850 mi from san jose, so I won't be able to drop it by. Wink

Thanks,
