Hey all. Well, woke up this morning at 8:00am, and asked about how to apply for a postal box out of the blue to my parents. They were surprised, but I was curious.

Then to my great suprise, I found out when I had gone to the post office prior to going to our local internet center (i have the net at home, but love the excerise of walking downtown to here - one large uphill journey home) all i need to apply was my social insurance / or birth certificate. So i ran back up the hill to my house, grabbed both, and ran down to the post office.

So after afew minutes, and signing the mailbox lease document card twice, and showing my ID, and the postal attendant filling out the mailbox lease document card, I managed to get my own postal box.

Yay for simple mail box signup at Canada Post! Well, byes for now.

My first PO Box was so that I could have a mailing address for a come-to-your-house-and-show-you-anything-about-your-computer-charging-hourly kind of business. I don't believe Canada Post even required my Social Insurance Number or Birth, but I keep the number memorized and the certificate with me, so possibly. I think I just showed them my drivers license and gave them a bunch of info.

Congrats. What do you plan to use it for?

A postal box is a small letter box which is located in a post office. Essentially it gives you a mailing address without associating it with your location. Many communities not large enough to employ mail carriers use these for all mail, not having it delivered directly to your house.

I guess it's been typed as po

I guess it's been typed as postal box several times, and PO box once, but noone gve the obvious Post Office Box full out, si I'd understand how someone unfamiliar might not understand the term. Also, PO Boxes can be located inside private companies like FedEx/Kinkos and the UPS Store.
