RC4-128

I'm using Internet Explorer 5.1 on a G3 and cannot view a certain site. When I enter the URL for this particular site, I am presented with a dialog box that says, "Security failure. Data decryption error."

The status line at the bottom says that the site is secure, RC4-128.

I'm assuming that I need some security stuff for Explorer... but what? And where do I get it?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Have you tried viewing this site with any other browser besides IE? What OS are you running?

Not yet...

No, I haven't tried viewing this site with any other browser. I use IE because it is the most compatible browser that I've tried so far. The other browsers that I've tried do not display pages correctly (i.e. iCab & Netscape).

Is there another browser that will run under Mac OS 8.6 or 9.1 that is as compatible as IE?

Thanx

Internet Explorer is not, by any stretch of the word, compatible. However, most companies design around its flaws. Sorry, your wording of that just set me on edge.

Make sure your system clock is set to the right time. It's silly, but it can cause encryption errors.

Sorry...

Sorry about that. What I should have said was that a lot of websites are more compatible with IE than any of the other browsers that i've tried.

System clock is set to the right time. I know the problem that you're thinking of. I've experienced a clock related problem before with security certificates. This time, it isn't clock related. It's something altogether funky.

I think that I'm just missing some security certificates in my system that is preventing me from viewing the site. Problem is that I have no idea what I need or where to get it.

Mozilla works...

I just tried viewing the page with Mozilla and it works like a charm. Mozilla loads the pages a lot faster than Internet Explorer too.

My new browser of choice is Mozilla.

Yeah!
