I just acquried an old G4 TiBook from my sister and have no use for it as a computer. So I was thinking it would be cool to put the screen in my truck. I was wondering if there was a way to lengthen the wires running from the screen to the controller. I know they are mini coax cables, but I don't know where to find the cables or if they are mac special. Also, the screen will be mounted on the ceiling of the truck and the video would be upside down with the normal adjustment. Is there a way to flip the screen 180 degrees by either swapping two connector wires or maybe a program that will do it? Any help will be great, thanks!

I've read a lot of posts saying you cannot set the screen seperate from the computer, that is not what I am trying to do. I want to mount the screen on the ceiling of the truck, run the wires through the ceiling to the computer mounted under the passenger seat. The computer will still control the screen and have full functionability except portability, I just need to lengthen the wires and find a way to protect them from being crushed.

Just plug in an external monitor, you can even use a TV!

The best thing IMHO about powerbooks can use an external monitor easily. I think that the model you are writing about has an "S-video out" jack, the computer should have come with an S-video to RCA video jack converter cable, that you could plug into a TV if you wanted (ask your sister for it).

He means that if you lengthen

He means that if you lengthen the wires the display will look like crap. You will end up with a lot of ghosting and static, if it works at all.

Ok, I understand that, but if I can ask, what's the difference between lengthening the wires of the laptop screen and the cord running from a monitor to a desktop computer? I'm assuming it has something to do with the controller, etc. Thanks for the info, saved me a hassle and a computer.

Better shielding, and a cable

Better shielding, and a cable that was meant to be 3 feet long.

buy?

If the unit is undamaged and complete, I might be interested in buying it from you.

Is there anything wrong with it / missing from it?

there is nothing wrong/missin

there is nothing wrong/missing from the computer except the battery is dead, it is just an old model that we don't use anymore. I am not looking into selling it right now, but I may be later.
