Ok, everyone, im very close to finishing my own ipod battery project. I didn't want to make one with a firewire plug, so i chopped the end off of a dock connector to firewire cable. I know that a 6 pin firewire cable has 2 twisted pairs (4 wires) for data. And 2 thicker wires for power. One of these is black, and the other is clear. I just nees to know which one of these (black or clear)is the power (+) and the other is the ground (-). If i get it wrong, i could potentially kill my ipod, so i want to be perfectly sure which one s correct. Does anyone know for sure?
thanks alot!
eric
Why not measure the voltages as they come out of the computer? Just connect the leads of the cut-off plug when it is plugged into the computer (don't let them short out).
because its already chopped off and the connector is already thrown out.
You could VERY carefully measure the voltages of the pins on the computer end.
